Dipeptidase 1 (DPEP1) hydrolyses dipeptides involved in the renal metabolism of glutathiones and its conjugates. DPEP1 is upregulated in colorectal carcinoma. DPEP1 is a tumor suppressor gene in Lobular carcinoma in situ of the breast. DPEP1 inhibits tumor cell progression, reduces aggressiveness and cell invasion in pancreatic cancer. DPEP1 is a marker for wilms tumor.

Dipeptidase 1 (DPEP1) is a zinc metalloprotease located in the kidney microvillus membrane. In human chromosome, the gene DPEP1 is localized on 16q24.3.
